CRT Engage is a community based support programme being delivered in Meir and neighbouring coalfield wards by a full time Employment & Skills Coach and a Health & Wellbeing Coach. The programme is person centred and offers free bespoke 1-1 support to people experiencing challenges which impact on personal health and wellbeing including anxiety, depression, social isolation, low self-esteem, low motivation, poor physical and mental health, lack of family and community support, debt, low skills, low income and unemployment.
The combined approach adopted by our coaches offer both individual support and community group activities to break down barriers to opportunity and help overcome personal challenges. Our customer led support focuses on improving confidence, motivation, improving mental health, supporting healthy lifestyles, physical exercise and participation in local groups.
Our combined offer of support includes:
- One to One support – To build confidence, motivation, soft skills and support with training and job search activities; identify options for volunteering and/or placements.
- Befriending service – Regular local walks with a health and well-being coach, or phone calls to instill routine, confidence, communication skills and improve mental well-being. Home visits can be arranged if the customer is house bound.
- Links to community support groups – Our coaches work alongside existing community groups to ensure customers know what is on offer locally.
- Barrier Busting Budget – Enables our coaches to help customers overcome financial barriers such as travel costs, work wear, DBS clearances, licenses, course fees, text books etc.
- Information, advice and guidance – Delivery of guidance and support with health and well-being, job searching and applying for jobs/training opportunities, volunteering etc.
- Training – Access to online training to fit the needs of the customer. Face to face training is also available and free to attend for customers.
- CRT groups – Various groups set up locally to benefit the community including chair based exercise, craft groups, coffee mornings etc.
- Partnership working – We utilise our existing provider partnerships, along with access and support to online training. Support agencies for debt, drug and alcohol, housing etc.
