Announcement – Notice of Service Closure
Due to the recent decision by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) to remove our funding, we are devastated to announce that that the Beth Johnson Foundation Dementia Advocacy Service will close on 31st December 2025.
Our service has been key to ensuring that people who are living with dementia are able to access, and engage with, the relevant community services that help them to maintain their independence and live safely and securely, in the environment of their choice, for as long as possible. We will continue to strive to secure the funding that could enable us to continue to offer this vital support for local people with dementia. Meanwhile, to ensure that we can provide timely, quality support for any new clients, we will cease to accept referrals from 1st September 2025. Please ensure that any clients you feel may benefit from the support of an advocate are referred to us before that date.
The Beth Johnson Foundation has been providing specialist dementia advocacy since 1998. The Dementia Advocacy project provides advocacy for people aged 50+ living with dementia or waiting for a diagnosis.
The issues that advocates can help with are varied and often complex.
The service is free and there is no limit on the time we remain involved supporting clients. Anyone can refer to the project.
We offer a Dementia Advocacy Peer Support Group (DAPSG) facilitated by advocacy staff at the Beth Johnson Foundation. This group offers a space where people living with dementia can meet and support each other.
