NSSCKPA - Kidney Patients Association

We support renal patients and their carers who are treated by the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM). This includes three hospital sites – Royal Stoke, County at Stafford and Leighton near Crewe. Originally the patients were from the North Staffs area but a much greater area is now covered, from Cheshire, Shropshire and all of North Staffordshire.

The Charity was formed in 1982 by a group of the original dialysis patients, to support renal patients and their carers who were treated at The North Staffs Royal Infirmary (now the University Hospital of North Staffordshire – UHNM).

The Charity will consider any requests from both patients and carers that will make their lives more comfortable or assist them to get around easier; to that end we can possibly supply wheelchairs, electric scooters and other mobility items. We can also supply blood pressure monitors, scales and other items of medical equipment not currently provided by an already under-resourced and over-stretched NHS.

In extreme cases of hardship, we may also be able to provide financial assistance to patients via the award of a hardship grant.

We also act as a support group for both patients and carers who are struggling with the toll of either being a kidney patient, or caring for one.
